At CNS Center, we use Brainsway Deep TMS, which utilizes a patented H-Coil helmet. This technology reaches deeper and broader areas of the brain compared to traditional "figure-8" coils (like NeuroStar). This allows us to target structures involved in OCD and smoking addiction, not just surface-level depression.
TMS uses powerful magnetic fields. You cannot undergo TMS if you have non-removable metal implants in or around your head (such as cochlear implants, aneurysm clips, or bullet fragments). Dental fillings and braces are generally safe.
TMS is known for having very few side effects compared to medication. The most common side effect is mild scalp discomfort or a temporary headache during the first few sessions. There is no weight gain, sexual dysfunction, or memory loss associated with TMS.
